Description
Gargoyle of Nothe Dame Cathedral in Paris
I love gargoyles, they haunt the medieval buildings in Europe, peering down from churches, cathedrals... Their two main purposes were to scare of evil and divert rainwater.
One of the reason I love to visit the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is because Victor Hugo wrote the Hunchback of Notre Dame which was one of my favorite novel growing up. Beautiful and doomed Gypsy Esmeralda is rescued by Quasimodo, a deform bell-ringer of the cathedral. A story of destiny and free will, and of love and loss... Very dramatic !
There are no elevator in the towers so you need to take 387 steps to see them - a true climb into history!
